SEWING INSPIRATION

Maxi dress

The maxi dress is a symbol of elegance which goes with every occasion, day or night. By the way, did you know that you don’t have to be tall to wear a maxi dress? If you’re short, there are two ways you can wear one: get a pair of high heels or switch to a midi length (mid-calf) with flats and there you have it!

Wrap dress
Or our best ally when it comes to emphasising our femininity, thanks to its lovely neckline and its slit skirt…

  • Patternette options: wrap top, crew neck back, peasant sleeves, wrap skirt
  • Modifications: adding wrist cuffs and a removable belt
  • Fabric: 100% off-white cotton gabardine x 3 m

La petite robe noire
In my opinion, this simple, elegant dress is a wardrobe essential.

  • Patternette options: boat neck top, deep V plunge back, peasant sleeves, 3/4 circle skirt
  • Modifications: shorten the peasant sleeve by about 15 cm
  • Fabric: 100% black linenr x 3 m

Floral dress
Roses are red, violets are blue… this floral dress is THE dress for going to a pastoral wedding or one held in a summer view.

  • Patternette options: midriff yoke top, boat neck back, short puffed sleeves, 3/4 circle skirt
  • Modifications: cutting the top B yoke in half to create the illusion of a button placket, sewing covered buttons down the centre front.
  • Fabric: 3m x 100% floral cotton

Mini dress

Cowl neck
Its drape is a real eye-catcher, much to the delight of both small and large breasted women!

  • Patternette options: cowl neck cami, straight back, bias skirt
  • Modifications: shortening the skirt to mini length, adding spaghetti straps which are criss-crossed in back.
  • Fabric: 1 m x polyester crepe

The mini length – perfect for showing off your legs, especially when you know that the weather’s going to be hot! To avoid it being too short, remember to cut your skirt longer. Put it on before hemming, look in the mirror and/or sit down and mark your ideal length with a pin. You will then have a short dress which matches your measurements.

Valentino like
Do you like plunging necklines? Well, so do I! What if I told you that this design was inspired by the famous designer Valentino Garavani? Are you sold?

  • Patternette options: deep V plunge top, boat neck back, leg-of-mutton sleeves, 3/4 circle skirt
  • Modifications: no pattern modifications for this dress
  • Fabric: 2m x stretch cotton satin

Thanks to Patternette patterns, you can also choose to create outfits with a crop top and a bottom. When we say that you can do anything with Patternette, we mean it!
